Divine Mercy Pilgrimage to Poland

13 Days    September 1 - 13, 2020

Daily Mass with our own Priest at the Shrines

DAY 1 – SEPTEMBER 1 EN ROUTE - Fly to Munich

We travel from our hometown to Munich, Germany.

 

DAY 2 – SEPTEMBER 2  MUNICH – GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN (D)

Arrive in Munich.  After we gather the group, we meet our bus driver, after he loads up the luggage, we will begin our Journeys of Faith Pilgrimage by driving through beautiful Bavaria to our hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.  Dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 3 – SEPTEMBER 3  GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN – OBERAMMERGAU (BD)

After a delicious German breakfast, we start our day with Mass at a local Church. Then we drive through the breathtaking countryside to Oberammergau, where we will attend the 42nd Passion Play.  The play is done in Two Parts; Part I is from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.  Three hour break in which we will return to our Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for dinner.  After dinner, we return to Oberammergau for Part II, which runs from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.  After the play, we return to our hotel for overnight.

 

DAY 4 – SEPTEMBER 4  GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN – SALZBURG, AUSTRIA (BD)

After a nice breakfast, we leave Germany as we start heading towards Poland, with a stopover in Salzburg “Old Town” internationally renowned for its baroque architecture and one of the best preserved city centers north of the Alps. Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the mid‑20th century, the city was the setting for parts of the musical play and film The Sound of Music.  Our first stop is at the Shrine of Our Lady of Maria Plain which houses the painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary which was miraculously saved from a fire which destroyed an entire house.  Mass at this beautiful Shrine overlooking the city of Salzburg.

Afternoon guided city tour of Salzburg. Included in our city tour is a visit to the miraculous image of the Christ Child of Loreto located in a small chapel in the heart of Salzburg.  Dinner and overnight in Salzburg.

 

DAY 5 – SEPTEMBER 5   SALZBURG - VIENNA (BD)

Today we leave Salzburg and continue on to Vienna.  Afternoon guided city tour of Vienna.  Our tour will include the Hofburg Palace complex, which houses the Albertina Museum, the Augustinian Church, the Imperial Apartments and the Spanish Riding School. It will also include the Schönbrunn Palace, former residence of the Imperial Family, and the Belvedere. We will visit the magnificent Stephansdom, the Cathedral of St. Stephen, where we will celebrate our Mass.  A mandatory picture landmark in Vienna, it is Austria’s most Gothic structure, dating back to the 13th Century. Transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 6 – SEPTEMBER 6  VIENNA - KRAKOW (BD)

In the morning we drive to the northern part of Vienna and visit the Carmelite Shrine of Our Lady of the Bowed Head. We will venerate and pray before this miraculous painting of our Lady. Our Lady’s face came to life before the Discalced Carmelite Friar Blessed Dominic and spoke to him: “Fear not, my son, for your request is granted.” “It will be accomplished and will be part of the recompense that you are to receive for the love that you bear my Divine Son and Myself.” Our Blessed Mother assured Dominic and assures us that “All those who implore my protection, devoutly honoring this picture, will obtain their petitions and will receive many graces.  Moreover, I shall hearken in a special manner to the prayers that shall be addressed to me for the relief of the souls in purgatory.” Visit Blessed Dominic’s tomb and celebrate Mass at this most special Shrine.

After our visit & Mass, we leave the beautiful city of Vienna and Austria as we journey on to Poland, with our first stop in Krakow.

 

DAY 7 – SEPTEMBER 7        KRAKOW ST. FAUSTINA –

WAWEL CATHEDRAL (BD)

Shrine of St. Faustina – Krakow – The official Shrine to St. Faustina, where she died and is buried. See the original Chapel of Divine Mercy, her first tomb, and her new resting place. Afternoon guided tour of Krakow,  including Wawel Cathedral, where Pope Saint John Paul II was ordained Bishop of Krakow. This is the shrine of St. Stanislaus, patron Saint of Poland. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 8 – SEPTEMBER 8    KRAKOW – WADOWICE - KRAKOW (BD)

Today we go to Wadowice – Birthplace of Pope Saint John Paul II – Visit the apartment of Carol Wojtyla and his family in Wadowice – Visit the room he had as a young man and the Church across the street where he stopped every day to pray to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, especially after his mother died. Return to Krakow, and visit St. Mary’s Church – A very special place for pilgrims. We pray at a very special wooden altar, and listen to the silver trumpet of the bugler of St. Mary’s. The square remains untouched for almost 700 hundred years. Great opportunity to do a little shopping at the famous market in the Krakow square. Return to our hotel for our dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 9 – SEPTEMBER 9  KRAKOW – AUSCHWITZ - CZESTOCHOWA  (BD)

This morning we leave Krakow and go to Auschwitz, the infamous death camp of the Nazis in World War II. In addition to a tour of the camp, we will pray at the death cell of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and then at Birkenau, at the place where Edith Stein, (St. Teresa blessed by the Cross) was gassed.  Continue on to Czestochowa, shrine of Our Lady of Jasna Gora. On to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 10 – SEPTEMBER 10  CZESTOCHOWA (BD)

This is the major shrine of our Lady in Poland – it is a large compound where people from all over the world come to venerate Our Lady. We will spend the entire day here with Our Lady. The local priest will give us a tour of the shrine. We will celebrate Mass at the chapel of Our Lady. Dinner and overnight in Czestochowa.

 

DAY 11 – SEPTEMBER 11  CZESTOCHOWA – NIEPOKALANOW - WARSAW (BD)

Today we leave Czestochowa, and visit the Franciscan community of St. Maximilian Kolbe, called Niepokalanow – city of the Immaculata. See Saint Maximilian’s office and church where the community worshipped. We continue on to Warsaw where we will visit the Shrine of Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko Martyr of Communism.  On to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 12 – SEPTEMBER 12  WARSAW (BD)

This morning we go to St. Faustina’s motherhouse, where she began her vocation. We will celebrate Mass here.   Afternoon guided tour of the city of Warsaw, including Warsaw Ghetto, shrine to brave Jews of 2nd World War.  See the highlights of the city.  Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. 

 

DAY 13 – SEPTEMBER 13    WARSAW – HOME

Today, we will begin our journey back to the United States, to bring all the majesty of our time in Germany, Austria and Poland back to our families and friends.

Terms & Conditions

Pilgrimage Prices:  Quoted in US Dollars, based on rates, tariffs and exchange rates  in effect on October 2019. Rates are subject to change in the event of revisions.  Pilgrimages with less than the required number of passengers may depart at the discretion of JC Ministry Inc./dba Journeys of Faith, but an additional cost may be incurred.  Pilgrims will be advised of any surcharges before departure.  Rates published are based on double occupancy, with additional charge for single. 

What is Included in Basic Pilgrimage Package:     All land transportation via air-conditioned luxury motorcoach.  All first class hotels - Two meals per day (as indicated by Breakfast and Dinner).  All Sightseeing, All tips, and Baggage Handling - Price includes only one suitcase per passenger, no heavier than 50 lbs.  All baggage is the responsibility of the pilgrim and airline/hotel or bus company.

 

Airfare -  Group airfares will be made available at a later date. Group airfare prices are guaranteed, only airport taxes are subject to change at time of ticketing.

 

Group air prices available from other cities upon request.  Group airfares do not allow upgrades nor seat selection.  Airline tickets constitute the sole contract between the airline and the passenger.

Land Price Only: Does not include air nor airport transfers.  However, transfers will be available provided you arrive at scheduled Pilgrimage dates and times. If you arrive prior to or after the scheduled Pilgrimage dates and time you will need to provide your own transportation at your own cost.  Pick up and drop off schedule will be provided prior to departure.  If you decide not to use the group airfare available, Journeys of Faith will be most happy to help you book your air at the best prices available in the market at the time of booking.  With these uncertain times it is best that you check with Journeys of Faith before booking your own air.

Also Not Included Are: Any  items not mentioned above or of a personal nature such as Passport and Visa fees, laundry, beverages, tips for room service, excess baggage charges, health and accident insurance, medical expenses incurred, replacement of items forgotten or stolen while on  pilgrimage.  Also not included is tip for bus driver.  Suggested tip $3.00 per day per person.  IMPORTANT NOTE -

 

Additional Charge for Visas for Non -U.S. Citizens

 

 

Deviations:  Any deviations from the pilgrimage, requested by the pilgrim, will be assessed at an additional administrative charge of $100.00 per person, plus any additional costs the change may incur.  

Responsibility: JC Ministry Inc/dba Journeys of Faith reserves the right to cancel a departure date or a whole pilgrimage due to lack of participation or for reasons beyond our control such as natural disasters, acts of war, acts of God or government restrictions.  If such an unlikely event should occur, we will offer an alternate departure date or pilgrimage program.  Should you decline an alternate date or should we cancel the pilgrimage outright, the limit of our liability to you will be the refund of all monies received, including any cancellation penalties.  We will not be liable, however, for costs incurred by you not paid to us, such as visas and passport costs, items of a personal nature, domestic transportation either by ground or air etc....nor will we be liable for any psychological damages, traumas, stress, disappointment, personal and financial loss resulting from our change of departure date or cancellation of a pilgrimage.  This right is also reserved to alter the itinerary should this become advisable due to schedule changes and other causes beyond the control of the operator.  

Additional expenses, if any, shall be borne by the passenger, conversely, refund will be made to the passenger if any savings is effected thereby.  Itineraries and Prices are subject to change without notice.  If a pilgrim leaves, and their roommate remains, the rate will revert to single room supplement for remainder of trip which remaining pilgrim will have to pay.  The pilgrim understands that he/she has no claim against JC Ministry Inc./dba Journeys of Faith for any delay or damage to or loss of property or baggage or injury to or death of persons due to any neglect or willful act of a direct air carrier, hotel, bus company, transportation company or service company of any kind, or any other person or persons rendering any of the services being offered in connection with these pilgrimages.  JC Ministry Inc./dba Journeys of Faith acts only as an agent in securing hotels, transportation and other travel services, and in no event shall JC Ministry Inc./dba Journeys of Faith be liable for any act, accidental or intentional of a third party.  In the event of a litigation, both parties agree that such procedures will take place in and under the jurisdiction of Conway County, Arkansas, the headquarters of JC Ministry Inc./dba Journeys of Faith.

Physical Disabilities:  Any disability requiring special attention must be noted on the Pilgrimage Information Form.  Any person who cannot travel independently, or who needs physical assistance of any kind, must be accompanied by a companion who can fully and solely attend to the person’s needs.  Our guides and drivers cannot help a handicapped person, nor can we ask our staff or the pilgrims to help.  We are really not equipped to handle Handicapped pilgrims. We are also not equipped to handle special diet meals.  The pilgrim must take care of any special needs directly with airlines, hotels or bus himself.

Reservations and Payments:  For reservations, please complete the Pilgrimage Membership Application.  A Deposit of Faith of $500.00 per person will hold your reservation up to sixty days prior to departure.   FULL PAYMENT IS DUE 45 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE.  PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL CREDIT CARD FEE, UP TO 4%.

Cancellation and Refund:  Full refund of all monies is made if cancellation is received up to 60 days before departure.  For cancellations received between 59-31 days, $500.00 Cancellation Fee per person.   For Cancellations received 30 days prior to departure, Cancellation fee of 100% of the price (totally non-refundable).  No refunds if you fail to complete tour.  No refund can be made for any unused services (such as missed meals or sightseeing tours).  This is why we strongly recommend Trip Cancellation Insurance.

Baggage:  On land portions, one suit case, 50 pounds TOTAL WEIGHT PER PERSON is included in your Basic Pilgrimage Package.  For each additional piece, $7.00 US Dollars per hotel is charged.
